Yugop.net

Yugop.net isn’t new in terms of web years. The site’s been around for a while and in its time has broken new ground with its creative and rich interactive pieces.

The site showcases the work of “Yugo Nakamura”, a web designer with a strong hand in programming, who seeks to imitate the mathematical complexity of the natural world through his code.

Facebook Connect: Vying to become the universal login

Facebook Connect takes users, developers and publishers a click closer to a richer social experience on the web.

This technology, a single button placed on a website, allows the user to sign up to the website with their Facebook login, thus giving the website access to the users Facebook information and in turn giving Facebook access to the users activities on the website.

A great example of this is Discovery Channels ‘Frenzied Waters’ campaign. The website is an interactive flash movie which, once the user has signed up via Facebook, can pull users pics and information to create a montage about the death of the user by a shark attack.

This technology has been used before but never to the same degree or with the same impact primarily because Facebook’s massive audience. A website suddenly becomes available to 200 million people. Facebook also has the benefits of tracking its user browsing behaviours. And finally the user has a rich media experience they are able to share with their friends.
